2023 WWC: Tinubu Congratulates Super Falcons Despite Exit
THE Super Falcons of Nigeria crashed out of the 2023 Women’s World Cup on Monday morning, losing 2-4 to England on penalties.
The President of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite the loss, hailed the performance of the girls.
He passed across his commendation via his Twitter page.
“I must commend the effort by our Super Falcons @NGSuper_Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“Your brilliant performance did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome.
“You made Nigeria proud on the global stage!” the President tweeted in the aftermath of the loss.
Nigerian fans must have thought their team’s passage was secured when Lauren James bagged a Red Card for a stamp on Falcons’ fullback, Michelle Alozie, in the 87th minute.
The English, despite their numerical loss, held on through Extra-time and clinched their quarterfinals ticket via penalties.
