Gabon Junta Charge Deposed President’s Wife With Money Laundering

THE Military Junta im Gabon has charged Sylvia Bongo Ondimba, wife of the deposed President, Ali Bongo Ondimba, with money laundering and other charges.

This was disclosed to newsmen by the Public Prosecutor on Friday.

This comes after a coup on August 30, 2023, ousted Ali Bongo from office.

The coup came days after the country held a controversial election that saw Bongo return to power haven spent 21yra already ruling.

Bongo has since been in detention, with his wife and son kept in a separate location.

After the coup, Bongo, in a video gone viral, called out for help.

The African Union (AU) has kicked against the coup, as have the European Union (EU).

The Coup plotters have cited “corruption” and others as reason for their hijack of power.
