AFCON 2023: Injured Iheanacho to Join Super Eagles Next Week
INJURED Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho will link up with his Super Eagles teammates on Tuesday, January 9 ahead of the kickoff of the 2023 Africa Cup Nations in Ivory Coast.
According to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation – NFF, Ibrahim Gusau, Iheanacho is recovering fast from a muscular injury.
“I have spoken to Iheanacho; he’s recovering fast and has even started running,” Gusau said..
“He will most likely join us in Lagos, where the team will be hosted to a dinner on January 9.”
Iheanacho’s Leicester City teammate, Wilfred Ndidi, has already been ruled out of the biggest soccer tournament in the continent with injury.
Iheanacho is yet to join his Super Eagles teammates at their training base in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as he is recovering from a muscular injury.

The rest of Jose Peseiro’s boys are currently at their training base in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The team is expected to depart for the AFCON 2023 finals on Wednesday, January 10.
Nigeria’s first game is against Equatorial Guinea at the Alssanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan on Sunday, January 14.
