‘Rally Goes On,’ as FG, NLC Meeting Ends in Deadlock
A last minute meeting between the Federal Government and the Organised Labour is not enough to prevent public servants from staging rallies across the nation.
The Nigeria Labour Congress – NLC wants the Federal Government to implement its agreement with the Organised Labour as well as address the economic crisis in Nigeria.
After the meeting hosted by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on Monday night in Abuja, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress – NLC, Joe Ajaero, said that the rallies will go ahead.
“The rally goes on and it is part of their constitutional responsibility to ensure that the rally is peaceful,” Ajaero said at the State House in Abuja.
Among those in attendance at the meeting on behalf of the Federal Government are: the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi; Ministers of Labour, Agriculture, Finance, Budget & Planning and the Head of Service of the Federation.
The two labour centres in the country were represented by the NLC National President, Ajaero while Festus Osifo led the delegation by the Trade Union Congress – TUC.
