Opposition Parties in Taraba Are Docile – Kiagama

A former Social Democratic Party, SDP, chieftain, Kenneth Kaigama, has described opposition political parties in Taraba State as “docile”.

Kaigama, who at the weekend dumped the SDP for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, expressed dismay at the silence of opposition parties in Taraba.

He claimed he decided to pitch a tent with the PDP because the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has not been able to challenge the ruling PDP in the state.

“The APC, despite being the ruling party at the federal level, has failed to provide meaningful opposition in Taraba.

“Since their loss in the last election, they have become irrelevant and plagued by leadership crises,” Kaigama said.

He criticized the APC’s inability to engage the government constructively, stressing the importance of consistent and objective opposition to foster good governance.

While underscoring his commitment to supporting the PDP and contributing to the development of Taraba State, he urged the opposition parties to as a matter of urgency go back to the drawing board

“My return to the PDP is not just about politics; it is about aligning with a party that prioritizes development. I want to assist the governor in bringing progress to the state rather than staying with opposition politicians who only fight for power during elections,” he said.

Kaigama highlighted his efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots, including donating an office to the PDP youth vanguard in his ward.

“This is just the beginning. My return to the PDP will help restore faith in the party and bring me closer to the people,” Kaigama added.
