NIGERIA President Bola Tinubu Tuesday wrote to the country’s Senate, requesting lawmakers’ consent for the deployment of Nigerian troops to Benin Republic.
The troops will embark on a peace mission in response to the ongoing attempted coup in the West African country.
There was an attempt to forcefully unseat President Patrice Talon following an attack on the Beninese leader’s residence in the Le Guézo neighbourhood early Sunday.The Nigerian Air Force had executed a coordinated operation alongside Beninese authorities in an attempt to contain the coup.
