TWO former members of the disbanned Speacial Anti Robbery Squad have been sentenced to death Bby hanging in Rivers State.
Justice Margaret Opara of the High Court in Port Harcourt found Shedrack Ibibo and Magus Awuri guilty and sentenced the duo to death for killing Michael Akor and Michael Igwe.
Ibibo and Awuri were part of the five-member SARS team that were standing trial
Akor and Igwe were being held in custody for allegedly stealing recharge cards in Oyigbo, Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State in 2015.
Standing trial along with Ibibo and Awuri were Samuel Chigbu and Ogoligo – both died in custody at the correctional centre in Port Harcourt, as well as Olisa Emeka, who was acquitted.
