CBN Boss, Emefiele Arrested by The DSS

THE governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria – CBN, Godwin  Emefiele has been arrested.

The embattled CBN boss was apprehended by the Department of State Services – DSS,  hours after he was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu.

The DSS, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer – PRO, Peter Afunanya, on Saturday, revealed that Emefiele is in its custody.

President Tinubu suspended Emefiele as the Central Bank governor on Friday night, nine years after he was appointed to office to oversee the monetary policy affairs of Africa’s biggest economy and most populous country.

Emefiele’s suspension “is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy,” according to a statement from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. 

Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, a deputy governor at the bank, immediately took over as acting governor.
