Police Vow to Adhere to Order to Withdraw Personnel From VIPs
THE order to withdraw Police Mobile Force – PMF, personnel from Very Important Persons – VIPs will be adhered to like never before. The police have said.
The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun ordered the withdrawal of PMF and established a Special Intervention Squad.
The force said in a statement by its spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, that unlike previous announcements that were often unattended to, Ag. IGP Egbetokun’s approach involves the formation of a committee to guide the process and explore the use of supernumerary officers, aligning with the provisions of the Police Act 2020.
The committee, led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of operations, will ensure a seamless withdrawal process and address any concerns or challenges that may arise, according to the statement.
The Special Intervention Squad aims to enhance Nigeria’s security framework and provide equal protection for all citizens. The team will swiftly respond to security challenges nationwide.
In CSP Adejobi’s opinion, this inclusive approach by the IGP, involving a guiding committee and exploring supernumerary officers, showcases a commitment to transparency and accountability.
