Obaseki Dissolves Deputy’s Media Team

THE government of Edo State has dissolved the media team of the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.

This was revealed in a statement released by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation in the state, Chris Nehikhare.

The disbandment comes after an incident that occured at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, on Monday.

The media team of the Deputy Governor were denied entry into the state event marking the 60th anniversary of the Midwest referendum.

According to the Commissioner, Shaibu’s Media team tried to forcefully gain entry into the venue.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Deputy Governor walked out of the event in annoyance.

“This act was contrary to the accreditation protocol that had been established for media coverage of the event.

“The orchestrated and stage-managed walkout and disruption is highly regrettable,” the statement read in part.

The Edo government have now ruled that media coverage of the Deputy Governor’s office will now be solely run by the Ministry of Communication Orientation.
