The meeting is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to reach a compromise to suspend the planned indefinite strike called by the Nigerian Labour Congress – NLC.
Organised labour is demanding N494,000 as the new minimum wage for workers.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, are meeting with the organised labour in Abuja.
The meeting is aimed at reaching a compromise to suspend the planned indefinite strike called by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC.
Organised labour is demanding N494,000 as the new minimum wage for workers.
However, the Nigerian government is proposing N60,000, stressing that the sum proposed by labour is unrealistic.
The NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC, had threatened to embark on a strike on Monday to push for their demands.
