Amusan Breaks Alozie’s African Record

NIGERIA’S Tobi Amusan has smashed Gloria Alozie ‘s African 60m indoor record. 

The World Record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles broke Alozie’s record of 7.82 with an improved 7.77 secs at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor in Astana.

Kazakhstan’s Member of Parliament and 2000 Olympic gold medalist in 100m Hurdles Olga Shishigina, was at the arena.

At Sydney 2000, Glory Alozie was second behind Shishigina in the race despite mourning a loved one who died a few days earlier.

Earlier on Friday night, Nigeria’s 200m sensation, Favour Ofili pulled away in her first indoor race as a professional athlete, securing a time of 22.87 secs to win the women’s 200m Open at the Razorback meet. US Lynna Irby-Jackson placed second in 23.32secs and third was compatriot Maia McCoy in 23.84s.
