Anthony Joshua Knocks Helenius Out
British Heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, has dismissed opponent, Robert Helenius, in knockout fashion.
The pound for pound fighter downed his opponent after midnight on Sunday at the o2 arena, London.
Joshua ended the match with a one-punch knockout to stun his opponent and record a morale boosting win in the 7th round of the matchup.
Despite being booed by some fans while making his entry into the arena, Joshua seemed unfazed and controlled the early exchanges.
While the fight was bereft of any high notes, Joshua made sure of an emphatic ending worth the fans’ money as his right hand caught Helenius in Round 7 and sent him crashing to the canvas.
“It’s a fickle sport, you’ve got to be real about this industry and not get caught up.
“I’ve done my job tonight.
“My back’s gone, is there a doctor in here? I want to carry this heavyweight division to the top,” Joshua boasted post-match.
Shortly after his knockout victory, a jubilant Joshua could be spotted drinking beer with controversial Irish mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor.
Following the victory, a fight is potentially on the card against fellow Heavyweight, Deaontay Wilder.
Saudi Arabian representatives were in the stands to witness this clash ahead of sealing a potential Joshua-Wilder mega-fight in the Middle East early next year.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is upbeat about Joshua’s chances against Wilder.
He believes that if Joshua makes contact with Wilder’s chin, the fight is “over.”
“We hope it’s imminent.
“That’s why he wanted the Dillian Whyte fight, it’s hard for him to get up to fights like this.
“If he hits Wilder on the chin then it’s over.
“This is about Anthony Joshua now, it’s not about pleasing others. He’s given everything to British boxing,” Hearn said.
