Army Vows Revenge Over Troops’ Demise in Niger
THE Nigeria Army has promised to unleash terror on the terrorists who recently claimed the lives of its troops in Niger state.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, made this vow on Friday during the burial ceremony of the slain soldiers held at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.
“To the bandits, terrorists, and perpetrators of violence, we will hunt you down, we will bring you to justice and will restore peace and security to every corner of our nation,” General Musa vowed.
“Your actions may cause pain and suffering but they will never extinguish the spirit of unity and resilience that bonds within us,” Musa stated.
The General assured the families of the fallen soldiers that their deaths will be avenged.
Last week, 36 army personnel were killed during an ambush by terrorists at Zungeru-Tegina Road and the subsequent jet crash that occurred in the Chukuba area of Shiroro, all areas in Niger State.
In attendance at the burial ceremony were the, Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, and his counterpart for State, Bello Matawalle, as well as the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa.
The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja and; the Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla, were among other dignitaries in attendance.
