Aston Villa Humiliate Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

ASTON Villa defeated Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in their English Premier League (EPL) matchup.

The Blues went down 1-0 at home, losing a man down as well at home in Stamford Bridge, London.

The turning point in the game came in the 58th minute of the second half when Gusto saw his yellow card for a challenge on Lucas Digne turned to Red following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervention.

The first half should have gone Chelsea’s way but they, somehow, connived to miss gilt-edged chances time and time again.

New signing, Nicolas Jackson, was the prime culprit as he missed many clear-cut opportunities including a one-on-one opportunity which was saved by World Cup winning Goalkeeper,Emiliano Martinez.

Raheem Sterling also saw his chances go begging as Villa looked almost toothless and fatigued in tbe first half.

Chelsea’s Disasi thought he had given his side the lead late in in the first half, but his headed goal was ruled out after the linesman raised his flag for offside.

Chelsea will thank Sanchez for keeping out Aston Villa out thanks to a crucial save off a Zaniolo attempt.

Following the red card in the second 45, it was only a matter of time before Villa took the lead.

The goal came after a Chelsea attack was cut out by Villa only for the ball to fall to Thiago Silva in the midfield. The Brazilian’s slip was capitalized in as by Villa’s Moussa Diaby, who threaded a ball through to Ollie Watkins.

The Englishman’s first shot was blocked by Colwill, but his follow-up creeped through the open legs of Robert Sanchez in goal for Chelsea.

Chelsea, surprisingly, had a chance to level the game but defender, Chilwell, missed a one-on-one against Martinez.

The Blues fought valiantly but, with the numerical disadvantage, it just wasn’t to be their day as they slumped to yet another defeat in the EPL.
