THE Peoples Democratic Party – PDP, has accused one of its prominent members, Governor, Nyesom Wike of intentionally frustrating the efforts of the party’s flag-bearer in this month’s presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.
According to The Punch, the Director General of the PDP PCC in Rivers, Dr. Abiye Sekibo made this declaration in a letter dated February 1, 2023, and addressed to Governor Wike.
Sekibo claimed that Wike had instructed Local Government Council Chairmen, Special Advisers, Commissioners, Party Executives at the state, local government, and ward levels, and all other appointees of the Rivers State government to campaign for Tinubu.
He said that Wike was working relentlessly to ensure that Atiku does not become Nigeria’s president.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State government had on Wednesday withdrew the approval earlier given to the PCC to use the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium for Atiku’s campaign scheduled for February 11, 2023, citing alleged plans by the PDP-PCC to accommodate and share the facility with a faction of the APC, led by the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Tonye Cole.
