THE Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has declared a curfew in Opu-Nembe area of the state following a crisis in the community.
Governor Diri, along with the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed, also dissolved all Opu-Nembe youth and chieftaincy councils.
This follows a resolution reached at a closed-door meeting with members of the Security Council in Bayelsa.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Akpoebi Agberebi, revealed the resolutions reached at the meeting.
Before the meeting, the Governor stressed on his government’s zeal to continually ensure peace and stability in the state.
He explained that the security council had directed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team from Opu-Nembe.
This, according to the Special Adviser, was to give room for the combined efforts of security agents in the state to squash the crisis rocking the community.
