CHELSEA Football Club has announced the signing of Belgian midfielder, Romeo Lavia.
The club revealed the signing via its official website on Friday morning.
Lavia joins from Southampton in a deal worth £58m add-ons inclusive.
The 19-year-old holding midfielder signs on a 7yr deal with the Blues.
“I’m really happy to join Chelsea and be a part of this exciting project. It’s an amazing football club with a great history and I’m really excited to get started,” the Belgian said.
“I can’t wait to meet all my new team-mates and build a chemistry together to achieve great things together,” he added.
On why he chose Chelsea, Lavia pointed to the rich history of the club, as well as their sporting project.
“My feeling is that the project, the ambition and the history were key factors.
“These three factors were determining my decision to join Chelsea,” he stated.
The Blues had to fend off interest from Liverpool Reds for the signature of the former Manchester City academy player.
Chelsea will now hope to have Lavia available for their weekend Premier League game away to West Ham.
