FORMER Chelsea defender, Jason Cundy, has described Takehiro Tomiyasu’s red card against Crystal Palace as an “absolute disgrace.”
Cundy’s opinion is that the Arsenal defender’s second yellow card should be overturned.
Tomiyasu was booked twice in the second half of the Gunners’ nervy 1-0 win away to hard finishing Palace.
The Japanese international received a controversial first caution from referee David Coote after he was adjudged to have taken too long to take a throw-in, despite only holding the ball for 8 seconds.
He was then given his marching orders in the 67th minute after being penalised for a foul on Jordan Ayew.
Expressing his outrage, Cundy said: “The Tomiyasu yellow card is an absolute disgrace – the second yellow. It’s an absolute disgrace,” Cundy said as he expressed his outrage on The Sports Bar.
Similarly, on the same show, ex-Tottenham defender, Jamie O’Hara emphasized that Tomiyasu didn’t deserve to miss Arsenal’s next game based on the incident, leading to his second yellow card.
