A military coup has taken place in Gabon, ousting the President, Ali Bongo.
The coup, AfriqueCan gathered, took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
This follows after the controversial election in Gabon over the weekend that saw President Bongo return to power.
The military officer in Gabon have, therefore, seized power and dissolved all institutions of the state effective immediately.
“We are putting an end to the current regime,” Gabon soldiers say on live television early Wednesday.
Before his ouster, President Bongo ruled Gabon for 14yr, from 2009-2023.
Before him, his father, Omar Bongo, ruled for 42yrs (1967-2009).
