Egyptian Govt Furnishes 192 Alternative-housing Units for Slum Dwellers

The Ministry of Social Solidarity announced the completion of the furnishing of 192 out of 800 alternative-housing units allocated to citizens who used to dwell in slums on Giza’s Warraq Island.
Minister Nevine al-Qabbaj noted that the number of alternative-housing units that have been furnished since 2016, when the slum elimination initiative was launched, has amounted to 21,624 located across 12 neighbourhoods. As for the cost, it recorded LE756,193,000.
The furniture purchased per unit includes two bedrooms, dining room, living room, kitchen, pillows, bed sheets, TV, fridge, washing machine, cooker, fridge, and water heater.
The ministry revealed that it is committed to furnish 11,581 alternative-housing units in the coming period at a cost of LE984,385,000.
