THE National Union of Electricity Employees – NUEE, has put its members on strike alert over the arrest of the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress – NLC, Joe Ajaero, by the Department of State Security – DSS www.AfriqueCAN.com
Ajaero was on his way to attend the Trade Union Congress – TUC, UK conference when he was arrested by the DSS at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
“Nigeria is our collective country; our leaders should not make us live like slaves that cannot express themselves in our country,’’ Acting General Secretary of NUEE, Igwebike Dominic said in a statement on Monday.
NUEE demanded Ajaero’s immediate and unconditional release without harm.
“We demand the unequivocal and unconditional release of Comrade Joe Ajaero without any harm meted out to him. We are using this medium to put all our members on alert for further directives.”
