Recall that, following the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group seeking for the independence of the region from Nigeria, has hitherto issued and enforced the order for years.

‘Life Has Become Very Difficult In South East’: Anyim Faults Sit-At-Home, Agitation

“We must emphasize that the circumstances that led to the Biafra agitation in 1967 are not the same as what is happening today.

“It is estimated that hundreds of lives and hundreds of billions of naira have been lost to the sit-at-home order and its enforcement.

“Life has become very difficult in the South East and almost every successful person in the South East is in self-exile,” Anyim observed.

The Leader of the IPOB is currently in the custody of the Directorate of State Services (DSS), with the group since proscribed as “terrorists” by the federal government.
