EMBATTLED Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria – CBN, Godwin Emefiele may be charged and prosecuted for alleged terrorism financing, if the secret police listened to the words of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria – SAN.
Femi Falana is a human rights lawyer and he has advised the Department of State Services – DSS, to handle the case involving Emefiele with seriousness.
Falana said that the allegation against the suspended CBN governor falls under the DSS.
He urged the secret police to hand him (Emefiele) over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – EFCC, for prosecution for suspected money laundering and other graft accusations.
The DSS confirmed on Saturday that Emefiele is in its custody.
Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu as the apex bank’s chief less than 24 hours after he was arrested.
Folashodun Shonubi, the bank’s Deputy Governor of Operations, has since resumed office in an acting capacity.
