FG To Inaugurate Minimum Wage Committee Tuesday

THE Federal Government will inaugurate the Minimum Wage Committee on January 30.

The committee is expected to recommend a new national minimum wage for the country.

According to a statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the planned inauguration of the Committee is sequel to the approval of President Bola Tinubu.

The inauguration is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 by 12 noon at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja.

The Committee under the Chairmanship of former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Bukar Aji, which cut across Federal Government, State Government, Private Sector and the Organised Labour are as follows:

It would be recalled that after President Bola Tinubu removed the fuel subsidy on May 29, 2023, the Federal Government decided to provide N35,000 to each of its employees as a measure to alleviate the impact of the subsidy removal.

The organised labour however, maintained that the N35,000 was a provisional solution, emphasising the need for a review of the minimum wage in 2024.
