AFRIQUECAN: THERE’RE strong indications that there will soon be an end to the political instability in Rivers State as the number-one citizen of the state, Siminalaye Fubara, has indicated willingness to choose peace over violence.
Governor Fubara, who spoke on AIT on Thursday, declared that he is prepared to step down in order to allow peace to return to the state.
On January 1, 2024, Fubara had vowed never to relinquish powers to his predecessor, Iyesome Wike and his political allies, who are against his government.
“No sacrifice will be too big for me to pay for the success of this administration,’’ Fubara said on the live Television interview.
“The reason is very simple: it is not political love. It is not because I want to gain any favour from anybody. My interest and love for our dear state are genuine,” Persecondnews quotes Fubara as saying.
The Rivers State Governor claimed that the conflict between him and Wike, had not been resolved, despite President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
