AT least 8 security agents including soldiers, police officers and men of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been killed by gunmen in Imo State.
The Spokesperson for State Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident.
The attack, AfriqueCan learnt, happened in Umualumaku community, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday morning.
AfriqueCan gathered that the gunmen ambushed a team of the joint security taskforce team who were inside two security vans.
The security agents were all burnt to death in their trucks without a single survivor.
An unidentified security agent also corroborated reports of the incident, while confirming that reinforcements have been deployed to the crime scene in a bid to recover the corpses of the slain agents and apprehend the culprits.
The incident is believed to have thrown the community into chaos with residents living in panic and reluctant to speak freely to newsmen.
