INEC Declares APC Candidate Winner Of Bye-Election In Ondo State

THE Independent Electoral Commission – INEC, has declared Ifeoluwa Ehindero as the winner of Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West Federal constituency by-election in Ondo State.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Johnson Fasinmirin of the Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA) announced the results at the collation centre held at Victory College, Ikare-Akoko.

According to Fasinmirin, Ehindero, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress – APC, polled 35,504 votes to defeat his closest rival Bada Olalekan of the Peoples Democratic Party- PDP, who had 15,328 votes.

The Returning Officer said that the total valid votes was 51,341.

According to Fasinmirin, total rejected votes were 555, while total votes cast was 51,896.

The Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West Federal constituency became vacant after President Bola Tinubu appointed Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who occupied the position, as a minister.
