Ke Huy Quan had fled Vietnam with his parents as a child.

He remembered how he spent his early childhood at the refugee camp in Hong Kong.

Later on, he moved to America, and at 12, he got a role his younger brother auditioned for.  The next summer he got another opportunity to act in another movie, Quan had thought he will soon become the biggest thing in Hollywood he was wrong.

Instead everything nose-dived.

Although Quan’s parents wanted him to become a doctor or lawyer for economic stability, Quan knew he was made for the lights and cameras.

For 30 years he tried making a comeback and went for many auditions but he failed.

It appeared like Quan’s dream would never materialize because he had been relegated to the edges of the movie business.

He had no visible career and things were bad.

Quan almost gave up on his dreams because his reality were poles apart from what he had foreseen in his future.

His dreams finally came true!!

No matter how broken, bruised, or discouraged you are; Stand up, and keep moving forward.

It does not matter if you feel trapped in your journey or you feel you are just moving in cycles and not making progress, keep at it.

No matter how bad things turn out for you, no matter how much time you’ve spent crying;  keep believing.

It doesn’t matter if the situation is hopeless or how many times you have prayed for things to

get better; hold unto your dreams.

Take my word for it; it won’t last forever.

Persevere, never give up, and your time will surely come.

Like Quan rightly said in his speech when receiving his Oscar, “Dreams are something you have to believe in. I almost gave up on mine, keep your dreams alive”.
