The motion was moved by Darlington Nwokocha, a Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, AfriqueCan gathered.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, subsequently put the motion into a voice vote.
A divide was noticeable as Senators were either for or against the motion.
It led to a noisy scenario with the Upper chamber yet undecided on the matter.
