THE National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that it has secured the release of one of the kidnapped Corps members in Zamfara.
This much was disclosed by the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, on Wednesday.
While speaking to newsmen, he disclosed that, of the 8 corps members kidnapped in the state, 1 has been released.
“7 of them are still in captivity.
“We have gotten one of them,” Ahmed disclosed.
“We are working day in day out to ensure they get their freedom.
“The security agencies are on top of the situation. Everyday, they are doing something about it,” he assured.
The DG also assured that efforts were in full gear to ensure the eventual release of all the Corps members.
He appreciated the concern of the general public regarding the safety of those kidnapped, while insisting that the security agencies will not relent in ensuring the families of those kidnapped see their loved ones.
It will be recalled that, on Saturday, August 17, 2023, gunmen kidnapped 8 NYSC members on a highway in Zamfara State.
The corps members from Akwa Ibom State were travelling in an AKTC bus to Sokoto State for their national assignment, AfriqueCan reported.
