Liverpool Hurts Newcastle 2-1 At St James’ Park

LIVERPOOL claimed all three points in their English Premier League – EPL, clash away to Newcastle on Sunday evening.

The Reds won 2-1 at St. James’ Park.

This was despite going a goal and a man down inside the first 30mins of the encounter.

Liverpool Defender, Trent Alexander Arnold, playing in the midfield, had a horrendous start as his back pass fell the path of a lurking Anthony Gordon, who capitalized on the error, ran through on goal and slotted past a helpless Allison in goal for Liverpool.

Things went from worse to worst for Liverpool 3minutes later as Defender, Virgil Van Dijk saw a red card for a rash challenge.

Newcastle were on the ascendency and would rue not putting at least one more goal in the Liverpool net before the halftime break.

Liverpool began the second half on the back foot, with Newcastle, understandably, piling all the pressure.

The performance of new Liverpool signing, Wataru Endo, summed up the entire team’s showing–horrendous.

Things looked down and out for Liverpool until big name signing form last season, Darwin Nunez, had other ideas.

The Uruguayan struck in the 81st minute to draw Liverpool level.

3minutes into stoppage time of the second half, and Nunez was the culprit again as his predator instinct saw him net a second to give Liverpool the lead.

1-2 it ended and Newcastle will curse their luck today.

This would be the 3rd EPL game in which the team bagging a red card either went on to draw or win the game.

Last week, West Ham went a man down and still defeated Chelsea.

Fulham, on Saturday, saw Calvin Bassey red carded but still went on to equalize against Arsenal.
