NDLEA Arrests Rider, Stylist

… For Selling Drug-Laced Chin-Chin To Students

AFRIQUECAN: TWO adults selling and distributing illicit drug-laced chin-chin to school students have been arrested in Bayelsa State.

Josephine Odunu – 20-year-old hair stylist, and 30-year-old dispatch rider, Edesemi Ikporo were arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency – NDLEA, for allegedly  selling the drug-laced chin-chin to school students at social parties in Yenagoa.

In a statement on Sunday, the NDLEA Spokesperson, Femi Babafemi,

said officers of the Agency on patrol around Opolo area of Yenagoa intercepted the motorcycle dispatch rider, Edesemi and recovered 200 grams of chin-chin produced with cannabis sativa, which he was on a mission to deliver to a buyer on Sunday 10th March 2024.

According to  Babaffemi, a swift follow up operation led to the arrest of the hairdresser, Josephine, who distributed the drugged chin-chin from the salon where she works in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa.

Babafemi said that a search of the salon also led to the recovery of 3.00kilograms bringing the total weight of the illicit substance seized from the duo to 3.2kg.

The anti drug agency said that investigations reveal that the suspects distribute the chin-chin often laced with cannabis and tramadol to students and at birthday parties.

The statement further said that Edesemi handles the delivery to buyers while Josephine is a major distributor to a wanted suspect who produces the drugged chin-chin.
