NLC Declares Two-day Warning Strike

THE Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced it will embark on a 2day warning strike, AfriqueCan gathers.

The labour union explains that the strike action borders on the effect the removal of fuel subsidy is having on the general masses.

The NLC have set Tuesday, September 5 as the commencement date for the strike action.

The Labour Union have stated, in very clear terms, their opposition to the decision of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration on subsidy removal, hence the nationwide strike to commence.

The NLC Leadership has warned the government not to subject the masses to any more suffering.

Following the announcement, President Tinubu has hosted a meeting with the leaders of the labour union at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

It will be recalled that, upon swearing his oath of office, President Tinubu immediately declared an end to fuel subsidy, moving, instead, to remove all subsidies on petrol products in the country.

After the President’s announcement, the price of petrol soared from N197 per litre to N617.
