Peter Obi Speaks on Rumoured Atiku, Kwankwaso Merger

THE Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the just concluded 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has described as “rumour,” reports, linking him with two other Presidential candidates in the February 2023 election.

The Ex Anambra state Governor stated this on Monday during the a Labour Party rally in Edo State.

Obi’s message to LP faithfuls comes after news circulated that the party was plotting a merger with Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to wrestle back power from the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“Labour Party will continue to grow. We will continue to go stronger (and) better.

“Half of the things you are hearing everywhere are rumours, don’t listen to them.

“We are committed to building a better and a new Nigeria where we will move Nigeria from consumption to production,” Obi said.

While also speaking on.the imminent Local Government election in Edo State, Peter Obi counseled the candidates to do what they promised in the manifestos once given the mandate to lead.

“Those of you who are contesting, go and tell the people what you will do and whatever you say, if you succeed, do it.

“No more promise-and-fail.

“The time for fake promises has passed in this country; we don’t want anybody to promise us fake things now.

“Anything you promise you must deliver,” Obi advised
