Police Arrest 7 Suspected Drug Syndicates in Delta
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested 7 suspected members of a drug cartel in Sapele Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta state.
The arrest was carried out on Sunday by the Delta State Task Committee on Drug Trafficking during a raid on their hideouts in the LGA.
The raid was led by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on security matters, Pastor Omasan Mabiaku.
Four men and three women were apprehended with various banned drugs including Codeine, Tramadol and Cannabis worth millions of naira, found in their possession.
The suspects and exhibits have now been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
While speaking to newmen, Pastor Mabiaku, stated that the government had mandated him to rid the state of drug dealers, human traffickers and their likes.
The Special Adviser hailed the state Governor for setting up the task committee to checkmate drug abuse and trafficking which was have an adverse effect on youths in the state.
He vowed to continue the raids on locations suspecting to be abodes for drug abuse in the state.
“We will ensure all those arrested are prosecuted to the full extent of the law”, Mabiaku stated.
In a similar vein, the Chairman, Sapele Local Government Area, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan, hailed the task committee for discharging their duties effectively.
“Many of our youths are into hard drugs which is cutting their future short.
“I appeal to parents to talk to their children. We won’t spare anyone bringing or selling drugs here,” the Council Boss said.
