Police Confirm Abduction of Two Uni Students in Zamfara
POLICE in Zamfara have confirmed the abduction of two female students of the Federal University Gusau who were taken in the early hours of Sunday.
The state police command also said the same day that search and rescue operations are ongoing.
The two students were reportedly abducted by armed bandits who stormed Sabon Gida Village in Bungudu LGA and broke into a rented female hostel of the university.
The kidnappers locked up the two civilian guards and dispossessed them of their handsets and later abducted the two female students of the Microbiology Department of the university.
A statement by the Zamfara state command Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, said that Police Tactical Operatives have intensified search and rescue operations.
The Zamfara State Police Command however, assured the public, especially families and the management of Federal University Gusau that efforts are ongoing to rescue the two students.
“On receipt of the report, the Police Tactical team moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had already fled with the victims to an unknown destination”.
The Commissioner of Police assured that the victims will be rescued hale and hearty. He also promised that the kidnappers will be arrested and charged to court for prosecution.
