Police Confiscate 820 Cartons of Expired, Fake Drugs in Kano
THE Police Command in Kano has announced the seizure of 820 cartons of suspected fake and expired drugs at Malam Kato Market in Fage Local Government Area of the state.
The seizure, according to the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, took place on Saturday.
Kiwaya said, in a statement, that the Command stormed two warehouses at the market where the drugs were found.
The PRO listed the drugs seized as: 514 cartons of eemistxmin/emstifer syrup, 7 cartons of 5mg Amlodipine tablets, 87 cartons of 50mg Atenol, 40 cartons of Frusemide injection and 219 cartons of 5mg Lisinopril tablets.
Kiyawa explained that the State’s Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, dispatched a team of detectives to the market and that the seized drugs have now been handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The Command’s PRO used the opportunity to encourage citizens to promptly inform the Police of any suspicious activities in their environs.
