Police Declare Canada-based Nigerian Wanted for Cyberbullying a Journalist

POLICE have declared a Canada-based Nigerian, Rachael Eboni Osazee Iyonmana wanted.

The Edo State Police Command, which placed a N5m bounty on Iyonmana, said she is wanted for cyberbullying, defamation and impersonation.

According to SP Chidi Nwabuzor – Police Public Relations Officer in Edo, theCanada-based accused persob was declared wanted after a petition to the Commissioner of Police on January 11.

The complaint from the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Edo, Festus Alenkhe, alleged stalking and defamation of character.

Sheallegedly opened multiple facebook accounts, using the petitioner’s photographs and full name, to defame his personality.

“The suspect used the internet to bully and defame his character…Facebook accounts created by Rachael were not the handiwork of the complainant,” Nwabuzor said.

The spokesperson urged anyone with information to contact the CP, PPRO, or the Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit.

The police are working with the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, to arrest the suspect any time she’s seen in Nigeria.
