MEN of the Nigeria Police in conjunction with hunters have killed a gunman suspected to be a kidnapper in Kwara State.
The incident which happened in Omupo District of Ifelodun Local Government Area, also saw three abductees rescued.
“Upon receiving the news of the abduction of three people, the hunters and vigilantes swung into action by combing the forests which resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the hunters and the kidnappers,’’ the Coordinator of the Joint Security Network, Kwara South District, Elder Olaitan Oyin Zubair, said in a statement.
“The action of the hunters who were promptly joined by residents from various communities in the area to chase the six kidnappers led to the freedom of the abducted persons and arrest of some of the criminals. One of them was shot dead during the exchange of gunfire,” Zubair added.
The victims, two Fulani women and one of their husbands, were abducted over the weekend from their camps near Gaa Sulu village.
