RIVERS: I’m Ready For Peace, But I Can’t Be Dragged Down – Wike
THE Minister of the Federal Capital Territory – FCT, Nyesome Wike says he is ready for peace following a faceoff with Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara.
Wike, however, insisted that he would not allow anybody to drag him down as a result of his new stance for peace.
“No politician will fold his hands and allow himself to be dragged down,“ the minister said at his residence in Port Harcourt while addressing the traditional rulers of Ogbaland who visited him on the occasion of his 56th birthday.
‘’I and my team would accept peace but we won’t allow ourselves to be dragged down because when we go down, who will protect our people.
Who will talk about our own interests?”
The crisis between Wike and Fubara had snowballed into disharmony within the state legislature as 27 lawmakers had defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
As the crisis deepened, the state House of Assembly was razed down by fire and Fubara’s administration demolished the complex.
