Sanwo-Olu Warns Lagos Traders Operating on Rail Lines
THE Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has warned traders who sell their commodities on the rail lines to desist from such.
Sanwo-Olu issued this warning while taking a tour of the facilities on Wednesday.
Speaking to the traders, the Governor warned that the rail lines were built for transportation purposes, not commercial.
He pointed out to the traders the risk to their lives their continuous presence poses in the event of a train crash.
“It is government road that is why government built everything. It is for transportation.
It is not for market,” the Governor warned.
Sanwo-Olu insisted that the warning will be circulated in the media so people seize to engage in the act.
“We will put it in news and the papers. We don’t want anyone to die.
When the train ply this route, people could die and we don’t want that,” Sanwo-Olu said in Yoruba language.
The warning by the Governor has become imperative seeing as the presence of traders on the rail lines has become a persistent trend.
AfriqueCan gather that the traders scamper to safety once they observe a train coming through.
This hazard has appeared to have become a normalcy for these traders as they seek to earn a livelihood.
