Ex AC Milan Striker, Andriy Shevchenko, has predicted a bright future for Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk ahead of the coming season.
The Ukrainian Legend made this assertion while speaking to TalkSport on Friday.
The former Chelsea player described Mudryk’s progress so far as “getting there.”
“I’ve been looking at a couple of friendly games Chelsea have been playing in America and I think Mykhailo Mudryk is getting there,” Shevchenko began.
“His team are starting to play very good football.
“It’s going to be an exciting season,” he said.
While Shevchenko fully understands the challenge ahead of his fellow countryman, he pointed to the lengthy contract Chelsea offered the player as a sign of faith the club has in him.
“Expectation, it’s very high for Mykhaylo.
“The club spent very important money and signed him for the long term–8 years.
“That means the club believes in him,” Shevchenko said.
On Mudryk’s slow start to his debut English Premier League season, Shevchenko pointed to his recent preseason form as an indicator of good things to come.
“Obviously, Mykhaylo had a very slow start but I’ve been looking at him in pre-season games, he looks sharp.
“I wish all the best for him to start the season very well and show all his quality,” Shevchenko concluded.
