Sunday Igboho Regains Freedom, To Reunite With Family in Germany
YORUBA Nation activis Sunday Adeyemo has regained freedom, two years after being held in neighbouring country, Benin Republic.
Igboho was arrested on Monday, July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Republic of Benin on his way to Germany.
Popularly known as Sunday Igboho, the activist had since been held by the Beninese government before he was set free from protective custody in the West African nation.
A Yoruba Nation leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye, who announced Igboho’s release, said that the activist left the Benin Republic for Germany, where he will reunite with his family.
Before fleeing Nigeria, the Department of State Service – DSS, had raided Adeyemo’s residence, Ibadan, Oyo State capital in an attempt to arrest him.
