THE Super Falcons of Nigerian have made their way into the top 10 in FIFA’s latest Women’s World Cup rankings.
The governing body released the results of the rankings shortly after the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, held on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
FIFA explained that teams were examined based on the situation leading to their knockout stage elimination.
Owing to their lofty performance at the tourney, the Super Falcons were able to earn a top 10 rating of 10th.
The Super Falcons are the only African team in the top 10 rankings.
They, surprisingly, edged the likes of Germany, Brazil, Portugal, and Italy on the rankings.
Here is a look at the top 10 Rankings released by FIFA:
1) Spain
2) England
3) Sweden
4) Australia
5) Japan
6) France
7) The Netherlands
8) Colombia
9) The USA
10) Nigeria
Nigerian exited the tournament at the Round of 16 after losing on penalties to England following a 0-0 draw.
This was despite a red card issued to England’s Lauren James in the second half of regulation time after a stamp on Falcons’ Michelle Alozie.
