ABOUT 10 persons are said to have been dead, so far, following the sudden collapse of the Zaria Central Mosque on Friday.
This was confirmed by a Worshipper, Abubakar Bamalli.
According to Bamalli, while 4people were initially confirmed dead, with 5 others left injured, the fatality count has now risen to 10.
He explained that 30person were current receiving treatment at an unnamed hospital in Zaria, Kaduna state.
Bamalli revealed that the dead were buried after the Isha prayers.
The Emir of Zazau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, had earlier confirmed the incident when it occured.
The Emir noted that the Asr prayer was being observed at about 4 pm when the collapse occured.
“We had earlier observed a crack on the wall of the mosque yesterday and were planning to deploy a team of civil engineers to effect repairs when this unfortunate incident happened,” Bamalli stated.
