THREE students are missing and eleven others have been rescued after a speed boat capsized at a resort in Calabar, Cross River State on Saturday.
The students under the aegis of the Nigeria Medical Students Association – NIMSA, were rescued on Saturday evening.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the rescue, said that efforts were being made to rescue three others as of Saturday evening.
Some of the medical students were said to have came from different universities across the country to attend the NiMSA annual Health Week in Calabar.
They were reportedly on a boat cruise when the mishap occurred around 3 pm.
Meanwhile, the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has ordered an investigation into the cruise boat mishap.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbeche, the governor expressed sadness that three of the students were yet to be found.
