PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu is mediating between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike in order to douse the political tension in the state.
Fubara and Wike clashed following the impeachment proceedings launched against the governor by the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday.
President Tinubu met with the two, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party – PDP, at the Aso Villa Abuja on Tuesday, according to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
Fubara is being accused of acts of gross misconduct unbecoming of the office of a state governor.
Principal officers in the State Assembly were removed on Monday amid gunshots. This followed a fire incident which gutted a section of the Assembly Complex a day before.
