THE Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has ruled against the petition of the Labour Party (LP) bordering on the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Candidate, President Bola Tinubu’s inability to secure 25% votes in the FCT.
The court gave this ruling in Wednesday.
According to the Court, Abuja is “like other states,” in Nigeria.
The decision comes as a surprise to many, seeing as Section 134 (2) stipulates that a Presidential Candidate mist secure 25% of the votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) before he or she can be qualified as Winner.
However, the tribunal now holds that residents of the FCT have no special privileges.
