SENATE President, Godswill Akpabior, was caught on camera declaring the disbursement of money to Senators to “enjoy our holidays.”
The video made the rounds on Wednesday morning.
In the viral video, Akpabior was seen explaining that the clerk of the National Assembly had disbursed the ‘holiday funds’ to the accounts of each Senator.
“In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the clerk of the national assembly,” Akpabior declared.
After consultation with his fellow lawmakers, however, the Senate President has since backtracked on his earlier statements.
“I withdraw that statement,” Akpabior retracted.
“In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the senate president has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return,” the Senate President reiterated.
The video has since caused a frenzy on social media, with many slamming the former Governor of Akwa Ibom for his brazing comments.
